What I have learnt from this unit about listening, is that listening is a receptive skill that can take an important place or can be involved with the responding to language rather than producing it. At the moment that we talk about listening it can involve also making sense of meaningful sounds of the language. So, it is also important to mention that the listening skill involves understanding spoken language. For the listening skill is important to take into account some factors such as the comprehension of utterances the sense that the speaker can also provide, the vocabulary, and the situation. At the moment that we can identify factors like the situation, the context, or feeling that the person has at the moment to speak or communicate, we infer or deduce the meaning of the spoken language that we need to understand, because recognizing this factors make easier our understanding.
We need also to know that there are some listening subskills that can help us to improve our listening skill, we can see that inside this skill we have some subskills that can help us to understand that listening can include different strategies in order to understand spoken language in a better way, in this we have listening for gist or for undertanding language in general, we also have listening for detailed information or especific information. This can be tools that ca help us to understand people in a better way.

ResponderBorrarDear Luci, It is true that listening is one of the most difficult skill to develop. For this reason, it is important that teachers encourage students to work in listening through different activities in the pre- listening, while- listening, and post listening.
