What I lernt from this chapter is that I could know in a deeper way what functions really are intended to show us, in this unit I could find some concepts or definitions about vocabulary related to Function, for example at the beginning I learnt that, function is the reason why we communicate, so we can say that the function is the purpose to communicate, it also describes how we use the language. I also could realize something very important that is we focus on the use of the language and its meaning for the people involved in the context. Inside of the main topic about Functions, we have also other terms like, exponent, which refers to the way we use to express a function. I also could find in this unit other terms related to the topic as for example level of formality, in this case it refers to yhe way how exponents express themselves in a formal or informal way, using colloquial or neutral language, in other words we can say the level of appropiacy to comunicate with someone else depending on the situation, it means the formality level.
I consider that this topic as one that contain a lot of importance at the moment search for information about language use, because I consider relevant to know first the reasons why we are going to use a certain language, because I yhink that if we want that other people could understand us in the way we want, we have also to use the correct language, I mean, that it has to go in concordance with the language appropiacy, or level of formality to use the language depending on the situation.

Levels of formality are revelant in the development of a conversation. It is because we need to be aware about the situation in which we use exponents and hoe to use them acoording to the context. Because we cannot use slangs in a formal situation for example a lecture.
