Phonology Unit Three

Something related to phonology and I consider relevant for my learning is  that phonology is the study of the sound features used in a language to communicate meaning. We have also terms in this topic like phoneme, as we already know a phoneme is the smallest unit of sound that make the difference in meaning in a language. Something else that I considered importante is that depending on the way how we pronounce a word it can make a big change on the meaning that we can convey to someone else whom we are transmiting a message or we are communicating to.
At the moment to teach it is important that the teacher will introduce to the class the different phonological sounds that we can have in the English language,  especially the once which students can find more difficul at the moment to pronounce them, because it can help them to recognize meaning, and use in a correct way the language even the correct use of a dictionary.
At the moment that I will have to teach my students I think I will be very careful at the moment to teach my students, especially in the way how I am going to pronounce words in order to do not make my future students get confused with the real meaning that I will want to convey and with the one they can think it will be.

  1. Dear Andrea,

I agree with you because you made a good reflection about phonology so we as teachers must to know how to pronounce correctly the words in order to avoid misunderstandings when we interact with a foreign people.
